It’s the very last week of February, and we’ve got a lot for you to look at today. We’ve been in the knife business since 1978, and if it cuts, we carry it. That’s why we’re going to show something […]
In the early 1970s, Kevin Pipes and John Parker started to sell pocketknives from the back of their trucks. Throughout the mid-1970s, they worked hard to build relationships with vendors and customers. In 1978, that hard work paid off when they officially opened Smoky Mountain Knife Works. Over the years, SMKW grew exponentially, outgrowing two facilities before moving to its present 108,000 square foot location in Sevierville, TN and building a fulfillment facility in Dandridge, TN. Each year over 1.5 million customers visit “The World's Largest Showplace” and millions more receive a monthly catalog or shop online at smkw.com. Kevin Pipes is still the president and founding partner of SMKW, but now his son, Tyler Pipes is the CEO.
